Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

This year the Annual Consultants & Technologists Dinner has selected an official event charity, the Chicagoland Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. With the disturbing and increasing prevalence of breast cancer today, it is likely that your friends, family and colleagues have been affected by this devastating disease. We ask, but do not require, that you contribute in this effort by making a $50 or larger tax-deductible donation; 100% of your donations will be distributed to this foundation.

Most of you are likely familiar with the Komen Foundation - information about the local affiliate can be found at www.chicagoraceforthecure.org or at www.komen.org for the National organization. For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded on a promise made between two sisters, Susan Goodman Komen and Nancy Goodman Brinker. Suzy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1978, a time when little was known about the disease and it was rarely discussed in public. Before she died at the age of 36, Suzy asked her sister to do everything possible to bring an end to breast cancer. Nancy kept her promise by establishing the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 1982 in Suzy’s memory.

TO CONTRIBUTE: There are three ways: (1) Bring a check made out to "The Komen Foundation" to The Dinner, (2) You may donate by credit card when you check in at the registration desk at "The Dinner", or (3) You can mail your donation as a check or credit card info in advance to The Susan G. Post-Katrina Technology Assistance for Louisiana Lawyers

The Legal Electronic Discovery Institute (LEDI), a Washington-based non-profit promoting the development of standards and education in the field of legal electronic documents and discovery, has joined forces with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) and the American Bar Association Law Practice Management Section (ABA LPM) to assist Louisiana attorneys and law firms in rebuilding their practices in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Central to the rebuilding efforts is a free two-day legal technology super session being held in New Orleans May 22-23, followed by the establishment of a centrally based technology resource center, critical to helping displaced lawyers revitalize as well as maintain their practices by providing access to facilities, equipment and various technology resources. The support of commercial legal technology vendors is critical to the success of both the two-day legal technology super session and the establishment and support of the resource center. If you are interested in supporting/participating, please contact Tom O'Connor at toconnor@legal-edocs.org or 206.347.1063.
